Back in December I joined Sara (A Frugal Wife) in the £2,014 in 2014 Challenge*. The idea is to make and/or save an extra £2,014 throughout 2014.

My last update for this challenge was back in May, so I’m playing catch up.

June Extra Income Total: £300.66
– £300.66 Sales

July Extra Income Total: £317.01
– £227.72 Sales
– £46.61 DVD Sales
– £42.68 Home insurance refund

August Extra Income Total: £131.11
– £2.67 Cash Back
– £67.56 DVD Sales
– £60.88 Sales

As you can tell we’ve sold a lot of our stuff in the last three months!  The extra money earned has been soaked up in moving expenses, but at least it’s helped towards them.

Money saved, not spent: £0.00!!
Money saved, not spent is from our budget categories. Ha! Unfortunately no savings here from the last three months!

Progress so far: £1,743.43/£2,014

£2014 in 2014
I need to make just over £270 to complete the challenge……..which should be doable. We hardly have anything left to sell, so ideally I’d like to save the £270 from our budget categories over the next three months. Yikes, a challenge within a challenge!

*I’m doing the challenge December to November because of how our budget is set up.

– £2.53 Interest

May was a fairly rubbish month for extra income as I spent most of it ignoring the challenge. But I’m refocused and  June totals should be much better…….which roughly translated means I stopped procrastinating and listed a few items on ebay!!

I still need to make/find an extra £1,019.35 – an average of £169.89 a month –  to complete the challenge, but I’m hoping to still make it.

April Extra Income Total: £268.19
– £115.86 Items sold
– £3.03 Cashback (Quidco)
– £149.30 Interest

Selling a power walker accounts for most of the items sold income. The interest is from a cash savings account.

Progress so far:

£2,014 in 2014

The spreadsheet shows my monthly total, my cumulative total (£934.26), the month by month target/goal, and how much I still have to make (£1,079.74). Keeping it up to date really helps me to stay on track of the numbers.

Are you doing the challenge? If so are you making good progress?
Hat tip to Sara for starting the challenge this year

2014 Totals: £934.26/£2,014
