This morning I thought I’d show you my menu planning in action…sort of! :)

Menu Plan Monday

I started with a quick freezer inventory, added in planned events, and then worked out the meal plan.

Meal Plan:

– Pork Loin Chops & Veggies
– Salmon & Veggies
– Eggs & Bagels
– Beef Casserole & Veggies
– Chicken + Noodles
– Pasta

Things to note:

  1. I don’t have any pre-made meals in my freezer right now – this needs fixing!
  2. We have lots (and lots) of fresh fruit still available to eat with our meals
  3. I need to buy eggs from the farm shop as soon as!
  4. I’ve spent £111.29 on grocery this month and it’s only the 9th!
  5. But we’re eating a.lot healthier and I’m losing weight (not that this should be more expensive?!)
  6. I’m going to give our local farm shop another go this week.

What’s on your menu this week?

It’s nice to see someone else’s working out and menu plans as they are, it all looks good for the week ahead.

I’m trying to eat our way through the contents of the freezers and I’ve just discovered why some things are lurking in the bottom forgotten about … Quorn ‘Bacon’ slices do not a good bacon butty make :-(

Whenever I read your posts I give the voice in my head a British accent :D I feel like it gives me a deeper understanding of your writing  Congrats on losing weight (if that’s what you were going for.) Just be sure you’re still getting proper nutrition. I have some aubergines and potatoes I plan to bake for my meal tonight :)

    • I’m trying to lose weight and the loss is a good thing, so thank you :)
Ha about my British voice – I hadn’t really thought about that before – I suppose I should start reading yours with a Canadian accent (you live in a beautiful city by the way!)

  3. We are on that Tim Ferris Slow Carb diet now, so our diet is nearly the same every day: eggs, veggies, chicken, beans, leafy greens, lentils…lather, rinse, repeat.

I am looking on your menu with envy & desire. It looks so good!

  4. A very balanced menu! I think eating healthy does cost more but by cooking and freezing in bulk, the costs can even out. Tonight, I had fish pie and we’ll have veggie curry and pasta with roasted veggies later in the week. Lots of veggies!

    • I keep reading that healthy doesn’t cost more, but so far I’m not finding that. Perhaps it will settle down, especially when my son goes back to uni.

      Thanks for stopping by :)

I like seeing the working out, too – a good insight into how you stick to budget so well.

I like the comment above about reading your posts in a British accent. I’m sorry to say, but I always read them in my head in a broad Aussie accent! I’ve only just realised how wrong that is!

  6. It’s nice to see your process…in process! I don’t know about your prices, but here, pop and chips and candy are much cheaper than yogurt and fruit and cereal. and a frozen pizza is much cheaper than a package of chicken!

I love your new blog look! It’s really nice and simple.

Do you keep your menus and go back and refer to them?

  8. SarahN says:

First up, Sunday was fried rice (for leftover lunches), then we had quesadillas on Mon, Pizza’s last night (made my base using a socca bread/pancake!), tonight is chicken cesear salad. Tomorrow is… ummm, I forget? There’s stock of gnocchi, both home made and otherwise, so maybe that?

It’s all (to some extent) a ‘type’ per day, though the fryri was not the ‘sunday roast’!

Accents… hmm I just read, there’s no accent?! Is that normal too?
