My aim last month was to bump the mini emergency fund back up to my 'peace of mind' level (£1,000), but I forgot about holiday spending! How, I don't know! The amount I planned to save in our mini e-fund*, £382.67, was roughly the same amount that we spent on holiday (£393.69), and so at least one cancelled out the other......but I need to make sure that I actually do top it back up this month (July).
- I've made slight changes to our budget spread sheet as I'm trying to stay focused on living on less than 50% of our income.
- Our grocery budget may be a little higher this month as B is home from university
- I plan to make a little extra money by doing a car boot sale this month
*A short while ago we reduced the amount of savings accounts we have and no longer have separate accounts for everything - savings for travel, the house, gifts and mini emergencies are all kept in one account.
