Menu Planning & Grocery Budget (January #1)

I was doing a freezer inventory (below) and thinking about menu planning the rest of the month, when I realised that I completely forgot to post my menu this week. I know they’re very boring for you (we eat the same things ALL the time), but it’s the routine of menu planning (and posting it on here) that keeps me within grocery budget…..well more or less within grocery budget! ;)

On the menu this weekindian buffet

  • Monday: Indian Buffet —>
  • Tuesday: Leftovers
  • Wednesday: Sausages with Veggies
  • Thursday: tagliatelle Bolognese
  • Friday: Stir Fry Chicken with Noodles
  • Saturday: Chicken Curry with Naan
  • Sunday: Baked Chili Salmon with Veggies

Freezer Inventory: (after above menu plan)

  • 3 Chicken Breasts
  • 2 x 6 Sausages
  • Assorted Savoury Snacks and Sausage Rolls
  • Pastry
  • Baguette
  • Garlic Bread
  • Pittas, Muffins, Wholemeal Bread
  • Veggies, Stir Fry Veggies, Casserole Veggies
  • Onion Rings
  • Potato Wedges

There’s not a lot of meat in the freezer, so that’ll need topping up next week. And so will the cupboards after the haul my son is taking back to uni with him – not that I mind helping him out! :) I’ve placed an order with Approved Foods today (my first), which will boost my stockpile again.

2013 Grocery Budget: (Dec-Nov)

Goal: £2,000

Spent: £288.84

  1. I like to see the menu planner, your Indian buffet looks nice we still have ours in freezer.

  2. Hi I love the menu planning posts they give me inspiration for the week ahead.
Please could you let us know how you get on with approved food. I have thought about using them for a while but have been a bit nervous of the postage costs.
Thanks for all your great posts

    1. Hi Tara! Will do :)

It’s free delivery on your first order if you spend over £30, so I thought it was worth giving a try.
