Our Budget: March 2012

Our zero based budget for March.

There's a few things to account for this month - from the gift fund Mothers Day and my daughters birthday, and from my personal spending allowance a trip to the dentist (today) and the hairdressers (Thursday), which will leave me with very little to spend for the rest of the month! I've set the grocery budget at £185 to account for the 5 week month and a couple of family get to together's.

Financial Goals for March:

  • Contribute £500 to our travel fund
  • Overpay the mortgage by at least £1457.66
  • Make at least £300 above and beyond our regular income
  • Keep our grocery spending within our budget (£185)

Good luck with your March budget!

  3. This is a shocking amount of savings/mortgage pre-payment as a percentage of income. Impressive!

    1. Thank you - we've worked really hard on reducing our fixed outgoings over the years. And re-mortgaging (to a great deal) a few years back has worked out brilliantly. Thankfully :)

    2. I was thinking the exact same thing about the savings/mortgage (once I'd done the conversion of pounds to Australian dollars!) That's a fantastic effort, it's great to see the figures - helpful for those of us trying to get to the same place!

    1. Thanks HP - the 'want' to get to Portugal eventually is very strong and it keeps us going.

    1. Thank you! It really helps that I think of the mortgage as real debt now - if you know what I mean. It always was debt just not bad debt as I see it now.
