Menu Plan Monday (Menu planning the whole month)

I'm attempting to keep my grocery spending at £150 for February and to improve my chances I've taken inspiration from copied saving for travel, and tried to menu plan the whole month....I've done this before, with little success, so we shall see how it goes! ;)

Meal plan for the next 7 days;

Monday: BLT's without the L Sandwiches!
Tuesday: Soup and Seeded Bread
Wednesday: Pasta Bolognese
Thursday: Chow Mein Noodles with Broccoli
Friday: Chicken Balti & Rice
Saturday: Shepherds Pie & Veg
Sunday: Leftover Shepherds Pie

  2. OK, I have to ask - what is Chicken Balti? Is it Indian or ??? Everything sounds delicious though - my oldest daughter would love the Shepherd's Pie (especially for two dinners).

    1. HI Laura - yes curry with peppers and onions. It's lovely and medium spiced - just right!

  3. I've tried the monthly plan as well & not had much success. But, I need to get on top of using what we have, and continuing to trim back our budget, so I'll see how you do this month & maybe follow you. ;-) We're having a few pasta dishes this week + our standard pizza (homemade) after skiing. Maybe fish, but just realized that I forgot to defrost it this morning. Oops. :-)

    1. I'm trying to check cupboards/menu plan/shop in that order this month..we'll see how it goes. Good luck.

I always forget to take stuff out of the freezer, so much that I leave myself big notes on the fridge before going to bed!

  4. We're hoping to spend only £40 THIS MONTH! Got alot in the freezer which helps.

Well if you can keep to the monthly plan it will save you a FORTUNE! Well some money anyway.

I think we've been able to do it because we repeat our menu.

If we don't fancy a dinner we swap it over with another.

And if we miss a meal (invitation) we carry that over.

I really hope it works out for you Laura.

  6. No weekly menu planning around here. We all eat different foods at different times so it's a bit chaotic on that front. Michael buys the meat he wants and cooks it the way he wants it (spicy!) while I'm cooking fish/chicken in bulk and eating lots of salad and soup (diet food). I did cook up a big pot of veggie chili but I'm not eating it as I'm not eating beans yet but both Michael and Kazi love it.

    1. It may be chaotic but it's working for you - 6lbs off and keeping to your grocery budget. Yay!
