Tricks To Saving On Car Insurance

The following is a guest post

In this day and age, in a tough economy, everyone is looking for ways
to save as much money as possible. Car insurance has become a main
focus to most of the population. Many people want to be legally
insured for as little as possible. There are many different ways you
can save money on your insurance that you may or may not even know
about. I will give you a few examples of ways to save that you might
not know about.

First of all, many people do not know that safety can decrease your
car insurance payments by a significant amount. For example, you can
save money by lessening your chance of having to file a claim with
your insurance company. Which would be, parking inside of a garage
instead of on the street, as well as car pooling, which will not only
save you money on insurance but gas as well. Plus, having airbags,
security systems, anti-lock brakes, and automatic seatbelts will also
decrease the cost of your insurance.

Secondly, this may surprise you, but your VIN number may be able to
save you money on your car insurance as well. There are millions of
cars that have an incorrect VIN number. Meaning, the VIN number maybe
on your car but listed as a different one.

Also, contact your insurance company and ask them to re-write your
insurance policy. Many insurance companies will come up with different
premiums and ratings for the same policy. Having your insurance policy
re-written can get you the same exact coverage, just at a lesser cost.
Also, if you received a ticket or any incident that is around 3 to 6
years old, you may be paying a lot more now then you would if you have
your policy re-written.

If you feel like your current insurance company isn't offering you the
lowest rates possible then go to a comparison sites online to find the
cheapest auto insurance quotes available to you. Often times one company
can fall behind another in rate over time. So it pays to check with other
companies occasionally.

On another note, where you currently live, could possibly give you a
lower payment. Many insurance companies have what is called rating
territories. Those of us who live in the city will most likely pay
more then if you did not live in the city. The trick is that many of
these rating territories have several zip codes, it may show your zip
code correctly, but, you could be classified in the wrong county.

In summary, with this economic state we are in, saving money is of
extreme importance. Search hard enough and you can find all the tricks
to do so.
