Every month I try to keep my grocery spending below £250 (preferably £230).
Well perhaps the key to keeping my grocery spending down is me being out of the house more lol, as this month I’ve unbelievably kept within budget! My spending for the month (as my next shop will be next Saturday) is £223.91!! I can’t believe it.
All joking aside the only reason that I’ve stuck to budget this month (as it’s the only difference in my June grocery shopping compared to the rest of 2011) is:
I’ve only shopped once a week, with no midweek interim visits to the supermarkets.
I know it’s not ground breaking stuff but limiting the amount of times that you go shopping for food really cuts your overspending. This month if we ran out of anything we went without until the next time we went shopping.
We didn’t run out of basics at all, I’m talking about other stuff, generally snack rubbish, that you can do without. You know how it is, you go to the shop intending to spend a pound or two, and end up spending double figures. Not this month. Yay!
So onward to July with a plan of doing the same again….a budget of £230, no interim shop visits and menu planning as normal. Let’s do this!
