Spending Diary - Monthly Report

I'm notoriously bad a posting a follow up to any of my monthly budgets for one reason; I forget to record my spending.

I've extolled the virtues of keeping a spending diary since I started blogging and yet fail to keep my own up to date!

My own spending diary is a simple excel sheet that I can update daily/weekly to track my spending; it takes two minutes to do, so there really is no excuse.

To try and combat this laziness I'm committing to posting a monthly 'spending diary report' on this blog; I'll post it in the first week of every month and you'll be able to see where my money is going - in fact I'll be able to see that too!

^This is an example of my monthly round up excel sheet that I'll be posting every month; this is simple to do yourself if you want to join me.

Are you good at this, do you record your spending every month without fail?

  1. I actually recieved a budgeting tool from 27&Frugal similar to this which I used religiously from Feburary to March. Although I am more of a paycheck budgeter, it would probably be nice to see how much in each category I spend montly again. :)

  2. I already do a spreadsheet although I draw it up by hand as I don,t have Microsoft Office on my PC. I love that I know exactly where my money goes, although it still manages to go LOL

  3. Every. Single. Month.

I post everything I can, even though it's kind of hard to split out personal and business expenses as it is just me living and eating but logged differently :\

    Other than that.... :)

I just love seeing my spending analysis and numbers. It makes me sit up and take notice.

  6. Serendipity: It certainly deters me from spending if I can see where I'm going over in the categories, especially grocery.
