Small savings really do add up

There's been a lot of talk about budgets and spending less around here lately; I can't seem to stop, it's becoming addictive, lol.
@nomorespending Electric toothbrush heads half the shop price on eBay; now why didn't I think of that before!

Take this tweet above; why didn't I think to look on eBay for electric toothbrush heads before; they are at least half the price of buying them in a shop. D'oh. A small saving, but a saving none the less.

The other day it was haircuts; we now have clippers for hubby's hair and for my hair, I've found someone to cut it at home for £10, much cheaper than my usual salon £35.

Just these three small things will save us approximately £20 a month, or £240 a year.

I'd love to hear your ideas about making small savings: what do you do that saves you a little amount every month?

  1. we limit our eating out to once per month, if that... it is a huge savings...

I used to go to coffee with girlfriends once per week during dd school day, now I take my own coffee in & sit with them ;)

  3. I'm all about spending small so the savings really add up! For instance, I have been packing my lunch going on four weeks now and I already know it's making my misc money last longer. I also bought a reuseable water bottle and fill it up at the water fountain because thats free. Hmmm what else have I been doing? Oh yes. Trying to meal plan enough for big grocery time once every two weeks has been helping and so has coming home more often in the evening instead of lolly gagging with friends. :)

  4. I stopped buying my weekly Magazine and now read it online ~ I take and also give my Hubby a packed lunch to work ~ Only go to the shops for Groceries and not to wander ~ And keep my banking up to date to avoid extra charges.

  5. I'd never considered using ebay for my toothbrush replacements. Now i know how cheap it is i wont be going back to store bought.

  6. I cut Hubby hair, which saves $20 a month (he likes his hair cut every two weeks). I have found lots of coupons for the brand of cat food for our cats that saves me $2 every time I purchase their food. We could give our cats away to save money, but those are my babies. :)
