A look inside my wardrobe

This might qualify me for a 'most boring closet of clothes award' but this picture shows the full contents of my wardrobe {plus coats}

As you can see I wear mainly black and grey; I simply add jewellery or a scarf to brighten it up.

Last year I went on a shopping hiatus and de cluttered my wardrobe to less than 30 main items; now there are about 32.

I'm finding it quite easy to live with this many items and just adding the odd piece every now and again, however if there's a wedding or special occasion to attend in the future, then I will have to find something new; I currently have nothing suitable.

I'm trying to add £20 to a clothing fund {ING savings account} every month so that when I need to buy something new I already have the money; I'm planning my purchases in advance, at last!

How do you approach your clothing purchases? Could you live with this many items of clothing?

  1. I probably could live with that number of clothes but I definitely don,t, because

    a) I don,t have a corporate job

    b) I love bright colours

    c) It,s Summer here almost all year so we shower and change OFTEN

    d) I am a clothes hoarder I just can,t let go.

  2. You are an inspiration! I wish I could cut back to that. Question: do you have exercise gear? I find that is one area that kills me. (running shorts and shirts and socks and shoes, yoga pants, bike shoes, wetsuit ... um, I'm a dabbler you could say, but I used them all in the last five days).

The other area that doesn't help is the weight fluctuations. Easily 5 lbs a month, and the pants that fit 3 weeks don't fit the fourth.

  3. Hi Marcia thank you!

Um no, no exercise gear. I only do walking {in jeans} I.am.lazy. I can understand how you have a lot of gear for exercising {triathlon training!} and if you're using it then it's all good; I was one of those people who had all the gear and never ever used it; so I got rid of it.

Your exercise/training is inspiring to me!

  5. I like to keep a small collection of classic items to make sure that I won't end up with something that I'll hate in a few years. Not as many neutral colors as your wardrobe, but I definitely agree that accessories make a big difference in anything!

  6. I'm with Maureen.

I am a long-time lover of fashion LOL

That being said, I do have a lot of neutrals for work but I can't help myself -- I sneak in brightly coloured tops and necklaces whenever I can, or pop out a dress when I feel like it.

If only I just liked neuturals + accessories :P
