A Fairly Cheap Treat

I've practically stopped spending on most things, however a new little routine has crept into my month; just after payday, I take myself off to the local Borders, browse the books, buy a magazine and then sit reading the magazine and drinking a double cappuccino.

All in all this costs less than £7 a month and makes me far happier than £300 handbags used to!

If you like to read magazines, you know it's cheaper to buy a subscription than an individual mag, right? Here in the states buying just one mag can cost $5.99US. But, if I signed up for a one year subscription it's only $10 (Elle Magazine, for example).
I just bought the subscription because most of our libraries no longer loan out mags. You can only read them while IN the library. Who wants to sit there for hours???
At our Barnes & Noble bookstore, there's a Starbucks inside. Most people take mags off the shelf, order up a latte, read the mag & when done, put it back up on the shelf. Cheapskates!
I understand, however, how this is your one luxury thing! I do almost the same thing: I go to our local cafe, order up a cappuccino and sit at a table by the front window and watch all the people go by. Love it!

Hi Morrison and thank you.

I've noticed when in B&N in NY there are lots of magazines lying around; we don't really do that here :-(
It is my one treat and it's move about the me time! I also want to do my little bit to keep book shops going, it'd be awful if they disappeared.
Over here you can free subscriptions through a supermarket deal (Tesco)
Hope you are well!

Little things are the best.

I think that sounds like a fabulous use of your blow money.
