Worst Case Scenario

I didn't mention it on this blog before, but last month I survived a round of redundancy's at work. My boss assured me (afterwards) that I was never going to lose my job, but having it hanging over me for two weeks was no fun; I'd started to imagine the worst.

This is the first time that my job position has ever been under threat, but I don't think that it'll be the last. It's time to up my game again. This week some of my colleagues have still missed important deadlines and I'll never understand why, why would you want to give the people above any reason to put you on the list for next time?

I'm so glad that I'm nearly debt free and I'm so glad that dh and I made the decision to save a large emergency fund at the beginning of the year.

  1. It's always a worrying time when your livelihood is under threat, but particularly at the moment when jobs are so hard to come by. Hang on in there, it sounds as though your boss appreciates you at least and doesn't want to lose you! Just think how much worse it would be if you still owed the £45,000 and had no emergency fund - and be proud of yourself for what you have achieved, and can achieve in the future.

  3. At least you are getting a wake up call not a layoff notice. Too many people are surprised and without any savings when the worst happens. Good luck with getting the rest of the debt paid off.

  4. Thank you all; the work place is scary for many people lately and watching some of my colleagues live with job loss hanging over them has been awful, is awful. There are no words to say to them.
