Payday came and payday went. I sent a snowball payment and it reduced my debt to £7,107. My next main target is £5k. This should happen by the end of August. I still have a direct loan payment to do this month which will take me below £7k.
I'm in super frugal mode at the moment and it's going really well. Every day I'm making a conscious effort not to spend money. It's addictive.

I am having a No Spending Day today! Finally, after quite a long time... I looked it in cupboards this morning and decided that I had enough food for dinner tonight, so I can avoid the shops today at least.
Good for you - I am on a no spend week & doing pretty decent so far... good luck on continuing the trend :)
I stumbled upon your blog today. I also started my own just today. Trying to find motivation not to spend and to save.
Well done with your no-spending days. It's more difficult than I thought but this has been a busier month than usual with extra one off spending items. I started a spending diary at the beginnning of this month and I'm shocked at how much it adds up to already. But I suppose that's the point of it - to flag up the unnecessary expenditure that soon adds up.
I have to admit that I am struggling with not spending mone, for us getting out of debt (not quite there) has meant more disposible income.
You may want to check out "I Will Teach Yo to be Rich". he is anti frugal in the sense that cutting out a dollar a day coffee won't make much a difference but cutting out large chunks of expenses will. It's more or less US based but he makes some valid points.
Thank you so much for inspiring me to start my own debt reduction blog and for all of the inspirational ideas for making more money and snowflaking the debt. I will be putting this into practice soon hopefully.
I'm in debt repayment mode too, I took on Mr M's debt earlier this year. At first I wasn't motivated to pay it off, but now I want it gone! Oh, I never answered your question about the best time to visit LA - try the fall. We have beautiful, sunny days throughout the fall. Midsummer is nice but can be a little hot and of course June is foggy.
