How much are you willing to cut your spending to get out of debt?
Over the last few years I've cut out or reduced my personal spending on several items. I've cut out buying magazines, beauty treatments, shoes, handbags, perfume, jewelry, coffee, most things that are unnecessary and I've reduced spending on haircuts, books, make up and clothes. I've had the odd blip but in general I've reduced everything.
This year I'm going a little more hardcore. I'm determined that 2009 will be my last year with any debt and this won't happen if I pop to the shops every week. I've already challenged myself to a year without clothes buying and I'm trying to extend this to not buying anything. The only money I'm allowing myself is £10 a month for a hair cut.
It's so silly to be purging possessions and buying new one's at the same time.

Good for you!!! I really hope you reach your debt free goal of this year!!! That would be amazing!!!
I went pretty nuts when I was getting out of debt. I cut everything except technology (can't help it), and it worked in the end for me :)
I realized clothes, makeup, etc.. not that big of a deal vs. tech in my life.
I'm still pretty frugal cause I now want to make up for lost time and save like a mad woman. For short periods of time it's fine, I don't think it's healthy to keep up forever. I hope you reach those goals soon.
Hi there-I bought and gave away a lot of clothes last year, I won't be doing that again this year!! Good luck to you!
Well done. Your determination is an inspiration.
I have to buy clothes because my size keeps changing (I've gone from a 20 to a 10 and am now on my way back up again but have no control over it) and I'm having my kitchen redesigned because I really NEED to but other than that I don't really buy much at all. I allow myself one magazine a month and I get a newspaper every other Saturday.
Good for you! I am doing the same for this month, and after this, I may keep it going. Though my impulse buys tend to be on home improvement projects and groceries.
To save on buying clothes, try having a swishing party, see my blog for details.
Great job. Good luck on getting debt free.
