How many excuses can you come up with to not pay off your debt?
If you're anything like I used to be, then lots. Year after year I'd just keep spending and spending, with no thought for the consequences. My consequences weren't bailiffs at the door or bank charges for missed payments, as I managed to keep increasing my salary to keep up with everything. My consequences are knowing that I screwed up my finances, and I need to play catch up for years to come.
Don't get me wrong, I've forgiven myself and all is far from lost, it's never too late to turn it around, but it's a lot easier to turn it around in your twenties, than in your forties.

Excuses are easy, action is hard. I know I buried my head in the sand for years. It only led to more debt. Fortunately I fixed the sitch on the cusp of my 30's, early enough to start over.
ReplyDeleteHi there-I totally agree, wished I'd learned my lessons a lot earlier in life too.
ReplyDeleteMy excuses were for why to get into debt and why I didn't need an emergency fund.
ReplyDeleteI've changed my ways, but like Sharon, I wished I had learned a touch sooner!
