Clothing Challenges

I've not mentioned it before on this blog, but I've set myself a challenge of not buying any clothes in 2009.
There are numereous reasons for doing this challenge> I want to reduce the amount of items I have, I want to save money, I want to cut down on my environmental impact and I also want to set an example to my fifteen year old daughter, that owning and buying lots of clothes does not make you complete!

I'm quite lucky in that playing football is her priority every weekend, and not going to the mall, but she still seems to have lots and lots of clothing. I've set her a small budget for January to June and she is free to use it for anything she likes, but once it's gone, it's gone. I will still buy any school uniform/shoes, but she has to buy everything else. We're also going to de clutter her existing wardrobe and donate any items that no longer fit to the charity shop. I'll let you know how we get on.

  1. I think it's a good idea to start her off young in keeping a well edited, clean wardrobe.

  2. Hi there-hope you can both meet this challenge. I shop at the charity shops and boot sales for all the family, would your daughter shop in charity shops? You can pick up marvellous things for only £2 or £3 nowadays.

  3. That's a great challenge, especially if you already have closet full of clothes. I've been trimming my wardrobe down so this year, I actually need to do a fair amount of shopping. Good luck with the goal.
