One thing I've learnt over the last 5 years is that having a routine and being organised is helpful in paying off your debt and improving your finances. There are specific tasks I do on set days and there are little things that I do everyday.
Sunday is Paperwork Organising: I file all my paperwork and pay any bills that need paying. This ensures that I don't miss anything and pay any late fees.
Thursday is Menu Planning: I menu plan every Thursday evening, just before I do to the supermarket run on a Friday. This enables me to buy only what I need.
Saturday is Home Maintenance/Upkeep: Looking after our home is one of our priorities. We do any minor repairs that need doing and try to avoid needing outside help.
Daily Tasks:
Check my online banking to make sure no erroneous transactions
Update my spending diary from any receipts
Make packed lunches for all family
Subscribe to No More Spending by email or RSS feed here
Good planning. Menu Planning truly saves more than I think most people realize.
ReplyDeleteDo you actually follow your plan? Most people say they don't. I have a basic food list for meals when I shop, too often I get back and realize I forgot something. This way I just copy and paste.

I don't do that well with these types of routines, it all still gets done just not on a set day. I could definitely benefit from some organization but I've come to accept that part of me is messy.
ReplyDeleteHi there-well done, it really does pay to be organised and up to speed with all things, especially the financial stuff.
