Payday is here, a couple of days early, so I've paid the set payments to my loans and sent my snowball payment of £800. This leaves my debt total, after the interest has been added this month, at £12,263. I've paid off £10,162 in 2008 and £32,760 since I started this journey in 2005.
Getting myself into debt was the stupidest thing ever, but I've moved on. Getting myself out of debt was the cleverest thing ever, not that I'm there yet, but I will be in 2009.
It's the cleverest thing ever because it's taught me (and dh) to live better. I've had so many realisations over the last three years, it's impossible to list them all, but the main one is that living well below your means is much better than living well above them!

ReplyDeleteWow, you've done really well this year! I had the same revelation a few years ago, the extra money I was spending on "stuff" wasn't making my life any better. The debt that came with it was a huge stress. Congrats on a successful 2008 and here is to your being debt free 2009!
