ReplyDeleteanyways you really should have a much larger emergency fund that what you do. It only takes one large bill to wipe out your meager savings and your back to using CCs again.

ReplyDeletedh and I have over £1500 in a savings if we need it and if I need money I can always stop the £300 extra I'm paying towards mortgage overpayments every month.:)

sharon - me and dh for 4 weeks, 2 children for 2 weeks only as they are on hols with their dad. I've been anywhre between £200-£275 when we are all at home (eldest hardly eats at home so I don't count her)
ReplyDeleteCripes! I've budgeted with £160 for just me and my daughter. Mind you, I am having Richard over for dinner a few times and another friend once so I suppose I'm not going OTT really.
ReplyDeleteOne of the 'guest' meals is Ostrich Fillet and that's not exactly cheap. I don't like to just serve up Spag Bol or pasta salad when I've invited somebody over but maybe that's what I really ought to do while I'm trying to pay off the debts?
one of these weeks we will be in Portugal - we are self catering apart from 3 evening meals which we have saved for in our holiday budget - we hit the supermarket in Faro when we land and stock up for the week -it'll be interesting to see if the prices have gone up there as well
