This weekend I'm going to set myself some new realistic, attainable goals. It's no good beating myself up every week. This debt will be gone in the very near future, whether it's in 17 months or 22 months is not a major problem. I just need to keep plugging away.
Thank you for all the lovely comments and emails I've received, they really encourage and motivate me. As Frugal Trenches tells me, I need to keep my 'eyes on the prize'
I think you are so right, the goals have to be attainable. If you are too stretched re-paying all debt and unhappy/stressed then you, or if you're me, are more likely to blow money on things you don't need. If it is a realistic monthly debt repayment allowing enough money for kids, life, etc then you'll feel you can do it!
ReplyDeleteYOU CAN DO IT! :)
You already have lots of goals, like becoming debt free, paying off your mortgage etc. It is the short term goals that help keep the tedium of clearing debt at bay. Like FT says, make sure they are attainable and give yourself a reward for getting two goals in a row or something like that. Make it fun.
ReplyDeleteI almost set myself a goal that was too high this month too. After overspending during July, the last thing I want is to disappoint myself during August too.
ReplyDeleteI find it's helping having other bloggers support me and to offer support to, who are in the same kind of situation and know exactly how it feels. I'm so glad I found you and a few others :)
Btw, can you email me on dioritt (@) yahoo. co. uk?
